The National Committee is pleased to announce a $1.1 million donation from Xcoal Energy & Resources, led by CEO Ernie Thrasher, in support of the Now More Than Ever 50th Anniversary Campaign. Xcoal’s gift will underwrite flagship programs such as the Young Leaders Forum and the track II economic and energy dialogues; support new initiatives including the Leaders Speak series; and build capacity through the technology and talent funds.
Mr. Thrasher’s 40 years of experience in the coal industry, during a time when the sector has undergone many changes, has enabled him to lead Xcoal in becoming the largest exporter of U.S. coal to Asia, and to seek innovation in a changing energy landscape by broadening its scope to include natural gas exploration and infrastructure projects.
Mr. Thrasher has assumed a leading role at the National Committee as a member of the board of directors, sponsor of several programs, and participant in our energy and economic track II dialogues. As the U.S.-China relationship grows in complexity, the support of leaders like Ernie Thrasher and Xcoal is critical to the National Committee’s mission to build constructive relations between our two countries.
