NEW YORK – May 23 – Business executives representing member companies of the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations (NCUSCR) and the US-China Business Council (USCBC) met with Mayor of Shanghai Gong Zheng. NCUSCR President Stephen A. Orlins and Executive Vice Chair Evan Greenberg gave remarks, along with the other participants

“At the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations, we are committed to building bridges between the people of our two countries,” NCUSCR President Stephen A. Orlins said. “American investment builds bridges like no other activity. I am fond of saying trading is like dating but investment is like marriage: you have to find a way to make it work.”

The National Committee on U.S.-China Relations believes that open communications between Americans from the business community and senior levels of the Chinese government improves understanding in both communities. This meeting with Shanghai’s mayor is but one of the National Committee’s many subnational initiatives designed to promote dialogue, navigate challenges, and find ways to bolster bilateral relations.
