The National Committee and the Asia Society cosponsored the premiere of Young & Restless in China, a documentary film that follows the lives of nine young Chinese over the course of four years. The filmmaker, National Committee member Sue Williams, uses these individual stories to illustrate and personalize the larger process of economic and social change taking place in China. Her subjects include a public interest lawyer, a hip hop artist, migrant workers, an entrepreneur and a medical resident, among others. After the screening, Ms. Williams discussed the process of making the film with the audience.
Young & Restless in China premiered on FRONTLINE on June 17, 2008.
Listen to WNYC's Leonard Lopate interview filmmaker Sue Williams and National Committee Vice President Jan Berris about the documentary.
