NEW YORK – April 29, 2024 – The National Committee on U.S.-China Relations (NCUSCR) was invited to organize briefings for the incoming U.S. Indo-Pacific Commander Samuel Paparo and staff from the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (INDOPACOM) and did so on April 25, 2024. NCUSCR has a long history of working with and providing briefings for branches of the U.S. government including members of the executive branch, Congress, and the military. The briefing was part of an INDOPACOM initiative to provide its leadership with views from American experts outside the government on various domestic aspects of China, U.S.-China relations, and Chinese foreign policy. NCUSCR’s long tradition of engaging with U.S. officials began with a 1968 briefing of President Johnson and broadened in 1976, when it organized the first delegation of congressional staffers to the People’s Republic of China.
