We are honored to welcome Directors Robert Daly, Elizabeth Economy, Paul Haenle, and Katherine Kaup, who will help guide the National Committee’s mission to promote understanding and cooperation between the United States and Greater China at this critical period in the relationship.
We are delighted that Ms. Undrakh Chunchuluun, fall 2016 Professional Fellows Program alumna from Mongolia, was selected by the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) as an Alumni Impact Award (AIA) winner for her work with young men and boys on intimate partner violence prevention. The AIA “recognizes exceptional contributions made by Professional Fellows Program alumni to their communities.”

The National Committee is pleased to announce a $1.1 million donation from Xcoal Energy & Resources in support of the Now More Than Ever 50th Anniversary Campaign. Xcoal’s gift will underwrite flagship programs such as the Young Leaders Forum and the track II economic and energy dialogues; support new initiatives including the Leaders Speak series; and build capacity through the technology and talent funds. Mr. Thrasher’s 40 years of experience in the coal industry, during a time when the sector has undergone many changes, has enabled him to lead Xcoal in becoming the largest exporter of U.S. coal to Asia, and to seek innovation in a changing energy landscape by broadening its scope to include natural gas exploration and infrastructure projects.
The National Committee is pleased to announce that it is launching a new Track II dialogue between the United States and China to discuss issues surrounding healthcare faced by both nations. Under the overall theme of “Providing Effective Healthcare,” the dialogue will examine the effectiveness of the healthcare systems in China and the United States and recommend ways to better measure and manage the delivery and efficiency of healthcare in the two countries. Dr. Olivier Brandicourt, CEO of the global healthcare provider Sanofi and a director of the National Committee, has encouraged and supported the Committee to undertake this project, which is one of the new initiatives celebrating the Committee’s 50th Anniversary.
