Schwarzman Scholar Fellow

Kate Gross-Whitaker is the 2024-2025 Schwarzman Scholar Fellow at the National Committee on U.S.-China Relation and a member of the 8th cohort of Schwarzman Scholars. Prior to joining the National Committee, Kate worked with multiple think tanks on U.S.-China relations, including the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and the Project 2049 Institute. Kate has spent multiple years living and working in China, most notably spending a year working at nonprofit that supporting victims of sex trafficking in Myanmar and China.

Kate graduated with a master’s in Global Affairs from Schwarzman College at Tsinghua University, where she wrote a thesis on artificial intelligence policy development in China. She also holds a A.B. in Politics and East Asian Studies from Princeton University, where she has done research on elite Chinese politics including female representation in the CCP and authoritarian responsiveness in the National People’s Congress.

Kate is passionate about increasing intercultural understanding and facilitating exchange between the U.S. and China. In her free time, Kate enjoys reading, scuba diving, and cooking.
