On the third and last stop of her U.S. visit, Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong was honored at a cultural symposium and luncheon at Carnegie Hall on November 22, co-hosted by the National Committee and the Chinese Consulate General in New York. The symposium, on Sino-American cultural exchange and cooperation, featured the signing of five cultural cooperation agreements and was attended by a diverse group of American leaders in the fields of the arts and education.
At the conclusion of the fifth round of the U.S.-China Strategic and Economic Dialogue (S&ED) in Washington, D.C., the National Committee on US-China Relations co-hosted a reception and dinner with the U.S.-China Business Council, honoring Chinese participants Vice Premier Wang Yang and State Councilor Yang Jiechi, and U.S. participants Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker and Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack.
At the invitation of Vice President Joseph Biden, Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping visited Washington, D.C. in mid-February. On Wednesday, February 15, he gave a major policy address on Sino-American relations at a luncheon co-hosted by the National Committee and the US-China Business Council, along with several cooperating organizations, and attended by approximately 600 business leaders, policymakers, heads of cultural and civic organizations, current and former American government officials, and Chinese officials.
The National Committee held a luncheon in honor of Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi on September 22, 2011 in New York City. The event, co-hosted with the US-China Business Council, was timed to coincide with the Foreign Minister’s trip to New York to address the United Nations General Assembly.
Chinese President Hu Jintao expressed confidence in the current U.S.-China relationship and optimism for future cooperation at a luncheon in Washington, DC, co-hosted by the National Committee and the US-China Business Council. The luncheon was held on January 20, 2011 at Marriott Wardman Park hotel, in cooperation with nine other organizations.
His Excellency Wen Jiabao, Premier of People’s Republic of China, expressed optimism about the future of U.S.-China bilateral relations at a dinner co-hosted in his honor by the National Committee and the US-China Business Council. Held at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in New York City, the dinner began with remarks by Secretary of Commerce Gary Locke and former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, who both marveled at China’s rapid growth and stressed the importance of the bilateral relationship.
